About Us

What is Allestree Heartshield?

Allestree Heartshield is a new, trial program working with East Midlands Ambulance Service and other existing volunteer first responder groups, with the intention of increasing the survival rates from critical cardiac arrest incidents.

Heartshield will be made up of an initial pool of roughly 10 responders who will receive training in Basic Life Support (BLS). These responders will then be able to be sent to support these time-critical incidents via an app on their phone.

The Allestree program is the first of it’s kind within the East Midlands and will act as a framework for other schemes in the area. It is to be expected that the scope of this program may change in time, so you will need to be adaptable.
